Could be!

Ok, so I must admit that there is a chance that people may pleasantly surprise you. Sometimes. But, I am not sure if it because I expect the worst at times, or if it is because there are still some genuine people of substance left on this world. Is this too melodramatic? Because though the tone of this post is not the most optimistic, I must say I am feeling pretty positive about things these days. Not so much positive because of a certain situation or because of anything in particular, it is because of how excited I am about the future, and all that is yet to come.

Space...

There is no doubt in my mind that in most situations, keeping a moderate distance yields the best results and the healthiest outlook. I do not mean this only in the physical sense.

Always one foot on the ground.

Pursuit of Happiness

Happiness cannot depend solely on something that will perish (see: a human) or something that can be taken away. Happiness really must be deeply rooted within us, it must be completely selfish, and we must protect that which makes us happy against anything.

I write this blog as a reminder to myself.

Lukewarm?

There is one thing I am very certain of, and that is that one of the worst things one can do in this life is settle. It is quite sad to say, but true nonetheless, that what one person might consider "settling" may be what another person considers a gain. Sort of like: "One man's trash is another man's treasure".

A very wise person told me that it is very, very important to always maintain the broad perspective of life, and of this big world, and how much we have yet to discover. This pertains to romantic relationships, a job, a city, anything! Change is something many people fear, but few things are better than change, because with change comes opportunity and experience. Sometimes what we are used to is comfortable, but that does not mean it is good. Taking small steps is smart in some situations, but leaping from time to time can be incalculably beneficial.

No matter how bright (or dark) the present may seem, there is always so much opportunity in tomorrow.

The most wonderful time of the year...

As I grow up, I realize that Christmas is a holiday that is only fully enjoyed when one is a child, enjoying the blissful lies that encompass this holiday... such as Santa Claus and the fact that every child gets lots of food and presents and has family to enjoy this splendor with. Not to sound like a Scrooge or anything... I still enjoy this holiday because I am indeed one of the lucky ones. I have family and loved ones and will be having a delicious meal and gifts to unwrap. But the proverbial "wool" is no longer covering my eyes, and I do know that most American suicides happen in December, people are drowning in credit card debt, and there is very little "Christ" on December 25th. So, I have decided to enjoy the little things... the smells of home-cooked food, the taste of the delicious wines my Dad will pick out, and opportunity to be with the people I love the most. Eat, drink, and be merry! See, that is something that even cynical atheists can enjoy.

:] Cheers!
